The 2000s party and red-carpet flash look
PRODSLR '06 · Pro digital SLR + flash · 2006 · Photo
Premieres, after-parties and the photo blogs everyone refreshed the next morning. DSLR ’06 is the pro camera with a flash on top that shot all of it, rebuilt for your iPhone.
What it looks like
At night the flash lights your subject with clean, daylight-coloured light, so skin comes out true instead of yellow or orange. The room behind sinks dark but never black, and lamps, candles and neon keep their own warm glow. Whites are crisp, blacks are deep and the picture is sharp and punchy, the way pro JPEGs looked in 2006.
Day and night
Outdoors in daylight it shoots clean, natural pro photos. Indoors and after dark the flash takes over: AUTO fires when it’s dark, or set it to ON or OFF.
Why this look is back
The 2000s party-photo and red-carpet flash aesthetic is all over fashion, music and social feeds. It flatters people, it feels like a moment, and it looks expensive without trying.
Tips
Get close: within a few feet the flash does its magic. Put a lamp, string lights or a window in the background, and shoot in the evening or indoors.
Get it on your iPhone
DSLR '06 is one of nine cameras in Atticam, the app that rebuilds the cameras from back then for iPhone (iOS 17 or later). It’s part of Atticam Pro, which unlocks every camera and removes the watermark. The camcorder and digicam are free to try.
