1970s black-and-white press photos on your iPhone
PROPRESS '74 · 35 mm press SLR · 1974 · Photo
Concert pits, protests, locker rooms and city streets. PRESS ’74 shoots like the camera hanging around a 1970s newspaper photographer’s neck.
What it looks like
Punchy black and white with deep blacks, bright whites and real, gritty grain that gets bolder the darker it gets. Prints look like they were made on a darkroom easel, not a phone.
The flash
Turn on the flash and the roll gets pushed harder for that high-contrast, grainy, front-page look: the snapshot of a moment someone had to catch.
Why it hits
Black-and-white film makes anything feel important. Streets, gigs, portraits and pets all turn into photographs instead of snapshots.
Tips
Look for strong light and shadows. Get close. Shoot people doing things.
