Frequently asked questions
What is Atticam?
Atticam is an iPhone camera app that rebuilds real early-2000s and vintage cameras: a MiniDV camcorder, a 2003 digicam, Super 8 film, 1950s colour slides, a 35mm point-and-shoot and disposable, 1970s black-and-white, and two Hollywood-style movie cameras. You shoot live through the camera you pick, and it comes out looking like that camera made it.
Is Atticam just a filter?
No. Every camera is built to behave like the original, so its look reacts to the light, the motion and the scene the way the real camera did. There are no sliders or presets to fiddle with.
Is Atticam free?
Yes, it’s free to try. The camcorder and digicam cameras are free with a small ATTICAM mark on your shots. Atticam Pro unlocks every camera, every new camera we add, and removes the watermark. Pro is available monthly, yearly with a free week, or once for life.
Does Atticam shoot video?
Yes. The camcorder, digicam, Super 8 and both movie cameras record video. The other cameras take photos, and the Super 8 camera also makes slides.
What’s a digicam, and why is everyone using one?
A digicam is a small point-and-shoot digital camera from the early 2000s. Their crunchy, flash-lit photos and choppy little videos have become a huge trend because they feel candid and nostalgic. Atticam gives you that digicam look on your iPhone without buying an old camera.
Can I get the disposable camera look on iPhone?
Yes. Atticam’s 35mm point-and-shoot camera includes a plastic disposable option with warm, grainy, flash-lit film photos that look like prints from the drugstore.
Which iPhones does Atticam work on?
Atticam works on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
Is Atticam on Android?
Not yet. Atticam is iPhone only for now.
Where do my photos and videos go?
Straight to your Photos library and the app’s own folder on your phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share a photo to Atticam Online.
What is Atticam Online?
An optional, old-web-style community: get a screen name, make your best shots public on your page, add buddies, pick your Top 8 and leave comments. You can browse the Photo Board on this website or in the app.
